UF TCYCD Taking Control of Your Cancer Diagnosis

Summary

In this video lesson, you will learn about the diverse types of stresses that the body undergoes while battling cancer, such as emotional, family, body, and monetary stress. You will also learn about the different ways to cope with these stressors, including things like therapy, communication, and relaxation techniques. For example, part of this lesson will teach you how to analyze your thoughts and feelings, and create an action plan for yourself to utilize these activities and strategies to help.

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

Develop an action plan to reduce or mitigate stressors in your life.
Learn how communication could be beneficial to you and your caregiver(s).
Recognize how therapies such as therapeutic horticulture could be beneficial to you and your caregiver.
Understand how equine therapy works and why you may want to consider participation.
Appreciate the benefits arts have in medicine.
